USDEC shared the positive story of U.S. dairy sustainability at the Dairy Association of China (DAC) annual meeting. The 12th Dairy Conference of China and 2021 China Dairy Exhibition, organized by the Dairy Association of China was held in-person, but also included recorded presentations contributed by overseas experts, with USDEC's appearing as part of forum on "Dairy Nutrition and Health with New Trends of Consumption".
USDEC delivered a pre-recorded message on "Sustainable U.S. Dairy and its Commitment to Nutrition and Supply - Journey to Carbon Neutrality," highlighting improvements in farming and animal care that led to a 19% reduction in the U.S. dairy carbon footprint between 2007 and 2017 as well as introducing the U.S. dairy industry's commitment to becoming carbon neutral or better by the year 2050 through improved feed production, optimized feed rations, cow comfort, genetics and health, renewable energy resources and more.
The presentation also offered how all dairy stakeholders can work together on Food Systems Summit related efforts to ensure dairy remains a relevant part of food systems, given its many benefits.
