Indonesia Import Permits

Exporters who are facing delays for shipments due to arrive in Indonesia by end 2021 are advised to work closely with their importer for extension of the validity of the import permit. The requirement is that the containers must have already shipped.

Importers can request an extension of the import permit via the INSW system with the following attachments:

  • Valid import license (i.e., 2nd semester import permit)
  • Statement letter with reason for extension
  • Import realization report
  • Bill of Lading

This is a one-time extension for 30 days and must be applied at least seven (7) working days before the validity period expires. This means all extension requests shall be submitted no later than December 22 (next Wednesday, Indonesia COB). In the event that containers are still not shipped and/or the ETA will be later than end of January, exporters are to communicate with importers to apply for import permit for 1st semester 2022 to avoid any shipment delays.
